Paul Davidson- Volunteer of The Year 2005

ProWorld has had an extensive presence working in the community of Chicon constructing a biological station, an ecologically safe bathroom and wood burning stoves. In addition, several children from surrounding schools have visited the forest of Chicon.

One of ProWorld’s endeavours has been forming and organizing the Chicon youth to be more active in the economic development of their town. ProWorld volunteers have been working with the members of the youth group assisting them in developing a tourist tour of the Chicon forest.

In 2005, Paul was the first volunteer that initiated overnight trips to the Chicon ecological house and spent a considerable amount of time working and sleeping in the community. He assisted the youth with the labour involved in erecting the kitchen adjacent to the ecological house and through his suggestions the Chicon youth have made the house more comfortable for future tourists.

According to ProWorld Site Director Tonie Taft, “Paul was an exceptional volunteer that dedicated time to our Chicon Ecotourism project. Paul was a genuinely fun, cheerful, and animated individual to be around and was well like by his fellow volunteers as well as the ProPeru staff”

Paul was determined to establish a friendship and working rapport with the youth of Chicon and indeed he did, which demonstrates that almost all obstacles can be conquered and what ProPeru volunteers with a correct combination of positive personal attributes can accomplish.
