Emma Kate Friedlander, Mt. Sinai Group Program volunteer
Emma Kate volunteered with ProBelize as a part of the Mt. Sinai clinical health outreach program (Medical Students Making an Impact) from April 7th, until April 14th, 2006. The group consisted of 24 participants from Mt. Sinai Hospital and School of Medicine In New York, 8 MDs, and 16 medical students.
Setup for the MSMI outreach began shortly after the New Year in 2006. Emma Kate immediately demonstrated her desire to make this outreach work by taking the lead as the main point of communication for Mt. Sinai Hospital.
The clinics took place in 10 different villages, including a repeat visit to two villages, two one day visits to nursing homes, and a visit to a local health clinic. Over 1,200 patients received a consultation from a doctor, and there is no doubt that Emma Kate played a vital role in the success of this program.
