Ana Paula, ProMexico NGO Intern

Ana Paula joined ProMexico in July of 2007 where she assisted the doctors and nurses at a small clinic in the neighborhood of Vicente Guererro on the outskirts of Oaxaca. Located alongside the city garbage dump, Vicente Guerrero is one of the newest and poorest areas of Oaxaca where many residents do not have running water or electricity.

Aside from working full days from Monday to Friday, she spent much of her weekend time traveling to and working in the clinic. Ana says that the reason she was so happy at the clinic was because "I gained the doctor’s trust and was allowed to do things that I never thought I would be doing. I learned a lot more than I thought possible while loving every second of it."

"The lack of money has always kept me from doing things that I may have wanted to do, but since Study Abroad at my school is required for a language major I fundraised and found grants that I could get through the school. Now I am just so extremely beyond happy that ProPeru did not become another one of my lost wishes." – Tiffany
